A sound bath is a full-body listening experience. There is no talking, nothing to learn, and nothing you can do wrong. You lie down, get comfortable, and I play a series of crystal and Himalayan singing bowls around you and above you until your mind finally goes quiet.
The room holds twelve people and never more. That is the whole design. The bowls stay close to everyone, nobody is at the back, and the sound arrives as vibration you can feel rather than music you are listening to from across a hall.
The tones move through your body the way sound moves through water. Most people arrive carrying a week they haven’t put down yet, and somewhere in the first ten minutes it stops being something they are listening to and becomes something they are inside of.
There is no hands-on work in this session, with one exception: a single Nepalese healing singing bowl, placed on the body, where the vibration travels straight through instead of arriving through the ears.
You do not need any experience with meditation, and you do not need to be able to sit still. Falling asleep is not a failure. Neither is crying. Both happen in most sessions, and neither one needs explaining afterwards.
Sixty minutes of sound, inside a 75-minute session. Come as you are.
What to know
Mats, blankets and cushions are provided. Bring socks and a water bottle. Wear something you can lie down in comfortably for an hour.
Please arrive between 5:20 and 5:25. There is no waiting room here, so arriving earlier doesn’t help — the space is being set up for you until a few minutes before we start. The session begins at 5:30 on the dot and the door stays closed once the bowls start, out of respect for the eleven people already lying down.
If you are pregnant, wear a pacemaker, or are recovering from a recent injury or surgery, write to me before you book rather than after. Sound is gentle, but it is not nothing, and I would rather know.
This session is open to everyone [age 8 and older].
